Official Wants Legislative Caucus, County Admin Unite
By Johnson Liway, LINA Grand Bassa County Correspondent
CESTOS CITY, April 7 (LINA) - The Mayor of Cestos City in Rivercess County has called on members of the Legislative Caucus and County Administration to unite for the speedy development of the county.
Speaking in an interview with the Liberia News Agency in Cestos City at the weekend, Mayor Sarah M. Zeo said her office has no problem with the Legislative Caucus and County Administration, but problems have existed between the caucus and local administration since 2011.
She said the problem between the two parties caused a freeze on the county's social and county development funds.
Mayor Zeo said this problem has adversely affected the development programs, including the construction of a new city hall with a 3,000 seating capacity and housing units in the city.
She told LINA that when she took office in 2008, there was no operational fund to run the office of the mayor, but later President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf instructed that certain amount of the county’s budget be allotted to the city.
She said since 2011, there has been no county development meeting, and is calling on both the caucus and local authorities to lay aside their differences and put Rivercess County first.
