Gondor Official Hails Boost in Farming

By D. Ignatius Roberts, LINA Grand Cape Mount Correspondent

ROBERTSPORT, April 7 (LINA) - The Township Commissioner of Beh Gondor in Gola Konneh District, Grand Cape Mount County, Mr. Thomas Gonda, has praised  citizens of the township for increasing their engagement in agriculture this year.

He said the citizens’ increased involvement in farming will help ensure food self-sufficiency and income generation that could settle some domestic financial obligations of the farmers.

Commissioner Gonda made the statement over the weekend in an interview with the Liberia News Agency (LINA) Grand Cape Mount County Correspondent.

Meanwhile, he has stressed the need to assist farmers with seeds and farming implements to encourage them to produce more local agricultural commodities.

Commissioner Gonda has, however, expressed regret that farming activities in the district are in the hands of the elderly, while the young people concentrate on mining gold and diamond.
