Pres. Sirleaf Visits Paris On European Visit

MONROVIA, April 7 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has visited Paris, France on the last leg of her official visit to Europe.

Over the last week, President Sirleaf paid official visits to Brussels, Belgium where she participated in the 4th EU-Africa Summit and Rome, Italy, and addressed a Special Event on the Post-2015 Development Agenda organized by the Rome-based Agencies (Food and Agriculture Organization, International Fund for Agricultural Development, and the World Food Programme).

During the visits, the Liberian leader also held bilateral meetings with stakeholders.

According to a Presidential dispatch from Paris, France dated April 6, President Sirleaf arrived in that country at the weekend from Rome, Italy where she had a successful visit.

She was met upon arrival by Liberia’s Ambassador to France, C. William Allen and staff of the Liberian Embassy.

During the visit to Paris, President Sirleaf, who is currently serving a two-year term as Africa’s Goodwill Ambassador for Water, Sanitation (WASH), attended the opening of the Global Water Summit and serve as Guest of Honor at the Global Water Awards ceremony later that evening.

Each year, the coveted Global Water Awards acknowledge the most important achievements in the international water industry, voted for by readers of Global Water Intelligence magazine and the Water Desalination Report (WDR), and members of the International Desalination Association (IDA) and the International Private Water Association (IPWA).

President Sirleaf delivered the keynote address at the gala event and later presented the Global Water Awards trophies to the winners and runners-up. The program took place at the Pavilion d’Armenonville in the Bois de Boulogne.

The Liberian leader and delegation will return home on Tuesday, April 8.
