Vice President Boakai Raps On Good Leadership
By Calvin Brooks

MONROVIA, April 4 (LINA) - Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has underscored the indispensable and unparalleled role good leadership plays in steering the African continent into transformation.

Vice President Boakai said good leadership demonstrates the highest qualities of good citizenship, patriotism and profound humanity.

He made the statement Thursday evening at the Monrovia City Hall when he released a book in Monrovia on the Growing of Africa's Emergent Leadership, published by the former Foreign Minister Olubanke King Akerele, which was launched in Lusaka, Zambia.

VP Boakai maintained that good leadership shows well targeted care for and reinforced interest in the wellbeing and welfare of the disadvantaged communities and troubled national economies on the continent.

In remarks, former Foreign Minister King-Akerele explained that the book is dedicated to those leaders who fought for African liberation from colonial rule and Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, who is the only surviving member among these African leaders.

Madam Akerele said the book is also intended to grow emerging African leaders, who need to be mentored to become the next leaders on the continent.

She disclosed that proceeds from the sale of the book will go to the Yahne Sangare Fund; that serves as seed capital at the Angie Brooks International Center, to support the internship and mentorship programs for young professionals in Liberia and the Mano River Union
