GOL Produces Six Of Seven Allegedly Stolen Vehicles

By Ballah M. Kollie

MONROVIA, July 13 (LINA) – The Government of Liberia has produced six of the seven vehicles allegedly stolen from the United States of America and smuggled into Liberia by accused Armstrong Tony Cambell.

Campbell and his Liberian partner, Sheak K. Brown, are facing charges of “Theft of Property, Economic Sabotage, Smuggling, Criminal Conspiracy and Criminal Solicitation.”

The vehicles are a Ram-1500, c-300 Mercedes Benz, a Grand Cherokee Jeep, Rangler Limited, Guattro and a Toyota RAV-4 Jeep.

The indictment states that Campbell and Brown understated the values of the vehicles when they said the vehicles are 2006 Models, when they are actually 2015 and 2016 Models.

This, in the view of the Liberia Revenue Authority, is a deliberate attempt to deny government needed revenue.

The seventh vehicle was not brought for what Montserrado County Attorney Darku Mulbah termed as lack of a key to remove the car from the container.

He, however, promised to ensure that it is brought to the parking lot of the Liberia National Police before the completion of the trial.

The trial continues at Criminal Court ‘C’ with the admittance of 33 pieces of documentary evidence into court records as the state rested its case with the production of oral testimonies with a caveat that it shall produce additional testimonies or rebuttal witnesses when necessary.

Meanwhile, the defense counsels have begun to defend their client by seeking the subpoena of several persons, including the president of the Brokers Association, Matthew Fahnbulleh, Dickson Mcgill, and UBA Bank, among others.

The trial continues.
