Liberty Party Bong SG Resigns

GBARNGA, May 18 (LINA) - The Secretary General of the opposition Liberty Party Bong County Chapter, Silas Tokpah, has resigned from the party.

He cited administrative reasons as the decision in his resignation letter.

Tokpah contested the Bong County Electoral District #6 seat on the LP ticket in the 2011 presidential and representatives elections, but was defeated by incumbent Representative Adam Bill Conneh.

Since his defeat in 2011, Tokpah has been serving the party in Bong County as secretary general.

He has not yet disclosed his new political turf or what could be his next step, but there are speculations that he might be eyeing the ruling Unity Party which is led by Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai.

“It is true that I have been a member of the opposition Liberty Party, but it is my democratic right to leave at any time I want to leave. That is why I have addressed my letter of resignation to the LP Bong County Chairman,” Tokpah said.
