Boakai Yearns For 1st Round Victory In October Poll

By Ballah M. Kollie

MONROVIA, May16 (LINA) – Vice President Joseph Nyumah Boakai has called on his supporters to ensure a win in the first round of the October 10 elections.

“I call on all of you my supporters to do the 2017 election thing; like you all said, one and one only round to avoid further spending,” he indicated.

VP Boakai said as reasonable people, when his supporters ensure a first round win, they will cut down the party’s expenditure, affording it the opportunity to save for future engagements.

He was addressing thousands of supporters in the central City of Gbarnga when citizens of Bong County endorsed his candidacy for the presidency Sunday n the county.

The program, which was organized by a cross-section of citizens of Bong County and held at the David Kuyon Sports Stadium in Gbarnga City, was attended by thousands of supporters from Bong and other counties, including Nimba, Lofa, Margibi and Montserrado.

The Chief Zoe of Bong County, chiefs and elders also graced the occasion.

Overwhelmed by the crowd which he described as a gathering of a group of people who simply believe in an individual, recounted the Biblical provision that says, “To whom much is given, much is required.”

He affirmed that citizens were on the way to setting the nation on a firmer track and to making sure that citizens will not be known by their tribe or origin but all as Liberians.

Ambassador Boakai envisioned a country in which he and all lawmakers, ministers and all highly-placed persons will send their kids to school and hospital here, rather than sending them abroad for better and quality education.

“You the great sons and daughters located in this central part of the country and are renowned, trustworthy and dedicated people who believe in tradition," the VP told the thousands of supporters.

According to him, Bong has been a key place for many great decisions to which the nation is grateful.

He cautioned supporters to ensure a one round win which, he said, will not only save resources required for a second round.
