World Bank Ends One-Day Consultation In Ganta

GANTA, May 6 (LINA) – A one-day Country Diagnostic Consultation aimed at solidifying a partnership  framework between the World Bank Group (WBG) and Liberia for the next five years has been convened by the Bank in Ganta, Nimba County.

The World Bank consultative meeting which was held in Ganta recentlyon Thursday brought together participants from the civil society and student groups in and around Ganta City.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting, World Bank Liberia Country Manager, Larisa Leshchenko said the gathering was intended to inform partners of the bank’s work on the new Partnership Framework which will cover engagement between the World Bank Group and Liberia for five years.

Leshchenko added that the meeting was also meant to allow stakeholders from across the country to explain the challenges facing them and the World Bank in collecting accurate information of the constraints facing the country.

She said the consultation, which is the first step of the process, will help the World Bank identify the challenges facing the country and how they can be properly addressed.

The World Bank Country Manager disclosed that the stakeholder consultation will also be taken to Buchanan, Grand Bassa County shortly and other counties subsequently.

The participants at the meeting talked about their challenges in agriculture, rural development, and education amongst others.

She said the next phase of the program will be to incorporate the feedbacks received from all the consultations to be finalized late June and turned over to the Board of Directors of the World Bank.
