Narcotic Drug Dealer Arrested With Over L$57k Drugs

By Ballah M. Kollie

MONROVIA, May 6 (LINA) – The Liberia National Police (LNP) says it has arrested and detained Hawa Massaquoi for being in possession of narcotic substances valued over L$ 57,000.

The disclosure was made by Police Commissioner Charles Blake during a briefing with journalists at the LNP headquarters on Capitol Hill in Monrovia.

The substances included 50 grams of Heroin valued at L$50,000 and two grams of Cocaine valued at US$70.

The items were arrested from Patrick Zawolo, alias Medicine, a notorious drug dealer and his fiancée Massaquoi both of whom operate a ghetto at the corner of Center and Benson Streets in Central Monrovia, following a search and seizure warrant served on them by the Monrovia City Court.

Zawolo, however, fled the scene following the arrest of the substances and is still at large.

Meanwhile, Deputy LNP Commissioner for Operations, Abraham Kromah, has vowed to investigate allegations of extortion of money from commuters plying the Monrovia-Kakata route by the Highway Patrol Team of the LNP.

He said while the presence of the team meets the approval of the LNP, it does not give any officer the right to take money from motorists as their mandate is to fight crime rather than being perpetrators of crime.
