FeJAL, SWEL To Sign HQ Construction MoU

MONROVIA, April 20 (LINA) - The Female Journalists Association of Liberia (FeJAL) will on Thursday, April 27, sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Society of Women Engineers of Liberia (SWEL), granting exclusive right to the women engineers to build FeJAL’s headquarters.

The decision was reached at a meeting between the two associations Thursday, April 20, at FeJAL’s office.

During the meeting, SWEL Secretary General engineer Cecelia G. Davis expressed her organization’s willingness and commitment to partner with FeJAL to construct its headquarters.

Madam Davies said the project when completed by their organization will help to showcase the talent of women engineers to the larger Liberian public.

For her part, FeJAL’s coordinator Siatta Scott-Johnson thanked the women engineers and said working with them is FeJAL’s own way of promoting and empowering women and making their work more visible.

Madam Johnson also said she was optimistic that the partnership will yield a long-term relationship between the both women organizations.

The project which is to commence in June, when completed will have a Resource center, Computer lab, mini offices, cafeteria and conference room to host 250 persons.

At the induction of the current FeJAL leadership in December 2016, a headquarters project estimated at US$300.000 was unveiled.

FeJAL is a non-governmental and non-profit organization whose mandate is to advocate for social Justice and empower women in the media as well as women in the society.
