Man, 26, Charged With Rape Of 2-Year-Old Girl

MONROVIA, April 7 (LINA) – The Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice has detained a 26-year- old man for allegedly raping his two-year old female cousin in the Monrovia suburb of Sinkor.
Defendant Rancy Darley, a resident of the Fiamah Weesay community, was on March 20, arrested by police based upon a complaint filed by the victim’s mother alleging that her daughter was raped by her nephew who usually takes care of her when she is away.
The defendant was on Thursday arraigned before the Monrovia City Court after police charged him with statutory rape to answer to the charges levied against him.
The Police charge sheet stated that the defendant is a cousin to the victim who he took care of when the mother went to attend to business.
According to the charge sheet, the defendant allegedly stuck his finger into the victim’s rectum causing her to bleed profusely.
The police charge sheet stated that while the victim was bleeding she crawled to her grandmother who noticed that she had been tempered with.
According to the charge sheet, the grandmother rushed the victim to the John F. Kennedy Hospital for treatment where doctors said she needed blood transfusion because she had lost a lot of blood as a result of the incident.
During police investigation, the defendant admitted that he raped the victim, saying that he regretted the incident and asked for the family’s forgiveness.
He is currently detained at the Monrovia Central Prison awaiting court trial.
