By Emmanuel Mondaye, LINA Gbarpolu County Correspondent

BELLEH DISTRICT, Gbarpolu County, March 24 (LINA) - A local non-governmental organization, Evangelical Children Rehabilitation Program (ECREP), plans to undertake a one-year water and sanitation project in Belle and Gounwolala Districts in Gbarpolu County.

During a formal meeting with the County's Assistant Superintendent for Development, Yassah Karmon-Fallah, ECERP Chief Executive Officer G. Abraham Powell said the group will work with 30 communities and six schools in the two districts, to educate the inhabitants about the importance of living in a secure and healthy environment.

Powell said the project, which is being supported by the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF), will also focus on health information dissemination to these communities and learning institutions on the need to always construct latrines in their homes and schools, to stop the spread of feces-related diseases.

He said under the project, which will be implemented under the name 'Community-led Sanitation', inhabitants will be assisted to construct latrines and hand pumps.

Welcoming the ECERP delegation to the county, Assistant Superintendent Karmon-Fallah expressed satisfaction about the presence of ECREP in the county, but cautioned them to operate in accordance with the county's technical committee guidelines.
