ECC Concludes Training For VR Observers In Bong
By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, January 31 (LINA) - The Elections Coordinating Committee (ECC) has completed the training of 24 voter registration observers in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The trainees, including 21 district supervisors and three county coordinators, were drawn from Bong, Lofa and Nimba counties.

An official of the ECC, Eddie Jarwolo, told the Liberia News Agency that the district supervisors and county coordinators were trained to monitor the voter registration exercise in the three counties and report to the ECC.
Mr. Jarwolo said as the foremost consortium of civil society organizations working on elections in Liberia, the ECC remains committed to its mandate of effectively monitoring and reporting on elections in the country.

Mr. Jarwolo, who is also the Executive Director of the National Youth Movement for Transparent Elections (NAYMOTE), said the 2017 election is critical to the maintenance of Liberia’s democracy and hence it was important that all Liberians double efforts to safeguard the process.

Meanwhile, the participants of the workshop have lauded the Elections Coordinating Committee for affording them the opportunity to serve their country.

They pledged to observe the voter registration process with sincerity and report to the ECC the exact events and issues that will characterize the process.

The training was held Monday at the Development Education Network-Liberia Compound in Gbarnga.
