GANTA, January 31 (LINA) – Former Nimba County Superintendent Fong Zuagele has turned over government property in his possession to the newly-appointed Superintendent, D. Dorr Cooper.

The program held at the County Administrative Building in Sanniquillie City was witnessed by scores of local county authorities and citizens.

Items turned over by former Superintendent Zuagele include a black Nissan Patrol Jeep, the Superintendent’s Compound, office and office equipment.

Speaking during the ceremony, Zuagele praised President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf for affording him the opportunity to serve his country and people.

The former Superintendent, who was dismissed by President Sirleaf on January 10, said he enjoyed working with his colleagues in the county and members of the County Legislative Caucus.

He extended best wishes to his successor, Mr. Cooper, as he assumes his new responsibilities as head of the county.

Former Superintendent Zuagele was appointed in February 2015 by the Liberian leader to replace Mrs. Christiana Dagadu.

Prior to his appointment as Superintendent of Nimba, Mr. D. Dorr Cooper served as Mayor of Gompa City from 2009 to 2014 and Assistant Superintendent for Development from October 7, 2014 to January 10, 2017.

In remarks, Mr. Cooper, who is yet to be confirmed by the Liberian Senate, thanked his former boss for his invaluable services to the people of Nimba County, and said the event was in fulfillment of the President's mandate.

The newly-appointed Superintendent said his plan of action for the county will be made known shortly when he is confirmed by the Liberian Senate and inducted into office.
