Piah Says Pres. Sirleaf’s Speech “Inspiring, Honest, Truthful”

MONROVIA, January 25 (LINA) - Presidential Press Secretary Jerolinmik Piah has described President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf’s State of the Nation address as “inspiring, honest and truthful.”
Speaking on the ELBC “Super Morning Show” Wednesday, Piah said the President outlined the progress that has been made, adding that she was also honest enough to admit the challenges faced by her government.
Piah pointed out that he does not understand the basis from which some media institutions are coming up with the publication that the President admitted to failing in the fight against corruption and reconciliation.
Piah clarified that the President reminded Liberians in her address that she made a pledge to them in 2006 that corruption will be made public enemy number one in her government, but noted that that promise was not fully met.
He observed that there is a big difference between ‘not fully meeting up to a promise’ and ‘failing to meet a promise’.
Meanwhile, Piah has described the Unity Party-led government as successful owing to the fact that President Sirleaf took over a broken country and transformed it to what it is today.
