By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, January 23 (LINA) – The former Mayor of Gbarnga, Josiah Marvin Cole, has accepted a petition from a group of citizens and residents of Electoral District #3 in Bong County to vie for the district’s representative seat in the October elections.

The citizens said they want Cole elected as representative to ensure that he works with the Council of Gbarnga to develop the city as well as provide proper representation for the district.

The petitioners expressed regrets over the manner in which Cole was dismissed as Mayor of Gbarnga, noting that his dismissal was politically motivated.

They promised to use their meagre resources to vigorously campaign for the election of Cole when the National Elections Commission declares campaign open for the elections.

The petitioners also encouraged citizens to turnout en masse and register during the voter registration exercise slated for February 1 to March 7.

In his acceptance statement, Cole noted that under his watch as representative, he will make sure Gbarnga gets the needed development.

He said in less than ninety days in office as Mayor of Gbarnga, his administration jumpstarted “the long awaited development” in Gbarnga.

Cole said when he is elected as representative; he will work with all sectors to ensure that his dream of beautifying Gbarnga is realized.

He wants his supporters and citizens of electoral district three to register during the voter registration exercise to enable them form part of those participating in the elections in October.
