CSA Ends 4-Day Working Group Workshop In Ganta
By S. Kannay Ziamo, LINA Nimba County Correspondent

GANTA, January 23 (LINA) – The Civil Service Agency (CSA) has conducted a four-day technical working group workshop in Ganta City, Nimba County in an effort to decentralize its activities and improve performance in government ministries and agencies.

The workshop, which ended at the weekend, was also meant to strengthen the country's payroll system.

Participants were drawn from the Civil Service Agency, Governance Commission and the Liberia Institute for Public Administration.

CSA Director for Civil Service Reform, Patience Coleman Beyan, said the workshop was also intended to roll out all of the activities, milestones and results frameworks needed to implement the Civil Service Modernization project under the Civil Service Agency of Liberia.

According to Director Beyan, the Civil Service Modernization project is a five-year undertaking that started in 2014 and is expected to end in 2019.

She said the modernization project has several deliverables, including terms of reference and job description for civil servants geared towards directing them on a daily basis on how to do their job to make them efficient and effective.

It is also intended to make civil servants more results driven, improve civil servants performance, scrutinize the payroll system and rationalize civil servants’ pay in the country.

Beyan said this is the third technical working group workshop to be conducted by the agency, noting that the first was held in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County, while the second took place in Gbarnga, Bong County.

She disclosed that funding for the project comes from the World Bank, the Swedish Development Agency (SIDA) and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)
