‘Voter Registration Fundamental Pillar Of Democracy’  - VP Boakai

MONROVIA, January 19 (LINA) - Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has called on members of the House of Representatives and Senate to encourage residents in their districts and counties to register to vote from February 1 to March 7.

This, according to the Vice President, is a key element in ensuring that all qualified constituents exercise their right to vote.

Vice President Boakai said voter registration is a fundamental pillar of democracy as it establishes and affirms the right of adult citizens to participate in the affairs of Government, and qualifies them to vote in free and fair elections.

The Vice President’s call was contained in separate letters addressed to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Emmanuel J. Nuquay, and Mr. Armah Z. Jallah, President Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate.

According to a release, Vice President Boakai said he was confident that “everyone of us can play a constructive role in voter registration, election, and participation and each of us should take time off and do so.”

VP Boakai pointed out in the communications to the two Houses that ‘we have come a long way and we should do all we can to continue to Think Liberia, Love Liberia, and Build Liberia.”

He then wished both Houses warmest felicitations of a Happy New Year,
the release said.
