Registrar Wants Adults Issued Birth Certificates
By Ballah M. Kollie

GBARNGA, January 14 (LINA) – Bong County Birth Registrar Philip M. McKay is calling on government to grant County Service Centers (CSCs) the authority to issue birth certificates to adults.

He told the Liberia News Agency Friday that the CSCs are presently limited to, on a free basis, issue birth certificates to children 12-year-old and below.

He said if granted the authority to issue birth certificate to adults at prescribed cost, the centers will generate revenue for central government.

According to him, hundreds of adults continue to visit his office to request birth certificates but he cannot issue them because of the restriction imposed on the issuance of birth certificates to adults.

He disclosed that he issued certificates to 3,222 children between April to December 2016.

He said the certificates were issued to 1,606 males and 1,616 females.

Meanwhile, McKay is calling on government to ensure efficient logistical supply to the centers.
