MOE Suspends Bong County Education Officer

By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, January 12 (LINA) - The Ministry of Education has suspended Bong County Education Officer Edward Kpulun for one month without pay.

According to a letter dated January 4, a copy of which is in the possession of the Liberia News Agency, Mr. Kpulun was suspended for leaving the country without written excuse to the ministry.

The letter stated that Mr. Kpulun was also suspended for taking his government assigned vehicle out of the country, knowing the implication it has on the ministry.

The letter under the signature of Deputy Education Minister for Instruction, Dr. Romelle Horton, made it clear that such work habit on the part of any Education Officer will not be tolerated by her office.

The suspension letter also mandates Mr. Kpulun to turn over the ministry’s properties, including vehicle and office, to the ministry.

It further states that his reinstatement is subject to his submission of detailed financial reports of the 15% registration fees collected from all high schools in Bong County as well as results of a commissioned audit of his tenure.
