“Say No To Violence”, Amb. Tolbert Urges Liberians
By Stephen N. Sonpon

MONROVIA, January 12 (LINA) – Liberia Peace Ambassador William R. Tolbert III, has urged Liberians to “say no to violence to enhance a peaceful electoral process” in October this year.

Tolbert urged Liberians to exert every effort to ensure that the election is free, fair, transparent and violence-free.

Addressing the Ministry of Information regular press briefing in Monrovia Thursday, he called on Liberians to go out and register to vote in order to make a difference in the country.

“Register and vote in October so that your single vote can make a change for the betterment of our country,” Tolbert noted.

Voter registration for the October polls will kick off on February 1 and end on March 7.

According to him, since 2015, they have been working with the United Nations and other organizations in building the capacity of the young people to ensure that they refrain from violence and ensure that peace is maintained in Liberia.

Tolbert indicated that they are going to spread the peace messages through the length and breadth of the country beyond 2017.

Meanwhile, Peace Ambassador Tolbert is calling on the media to foster peace in Liberia through their reportage and ensure a peaceful transition during the 2017 elections.
