Miss Liberia Vows To Make ‘Great Difference’

Catherine B. Nyenkan

MONROVIA, January 12 (LINA) - The winner of the 2016/2017 ‘Miss Liberia’ Queen contest, Wokie Dolo, has promised to be “an icon of change,” promising to make a distinction among all those that preceded her.

Dolo, who represented Nimba County in the contest in Monrovia on December 30, added that she will be “the shining star and a brilliant example for Liberians.”

Making the statement during a press conference at the Ministry of Information Thursday, Dolo stressed that her ascendency to the throne should not be construed as beneficial to her native Nimba County alone.

She added: “I am the queen for not just for Nimba alone, but of the entire country,” assuring that whatever she does will be for the benefit of the entire country in order to ensure that she makes a difference from those who wore the crown before her.

Receiving the queen, the Minister of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Eugene Nagbe, thanked the 11 Stripes, organizers of the pageant, for peacefully and fairly conducting the Miss Liberia 2016/2017 contest.

Nagbe then frowned on critics who condemned the pageant, admonishing them to give the organizers credit “for the job well done.”

He also pledged his unflinching support to the queen on behalf of the Ministry of Information and the Government of Liberia.

A brand new 2017 Renault compact car valued at US $15,000 was presented to Miss Dolo as the grand prize for the Miss Liberia beauty pageant contest.
