By Comfort M. Johnson

MONROVIA January 10 (LINA) – The Monrovia City Court at the Temple of Justice has ordered the detention at the Monrovia Central Prison a 27-year-old man for allegedly possessing US$10,000 in counterfeit.

Defendant Mech Dennis, a resident of 1st Street in the Monrovia suburb of Sinkor, was on December 29, 2016 arrested by the Police, charged and detained for alleged criminal conspiracy, criminal facilitation, counterfeiting, forgery and economic sabotage.

The defendant was on Monday arraigned before the Monrovia City Court to answer to the charges brought against him.

The police charge sheet indicated that the defendant led some police officers to one Konah Kamara where the counterfeit money was found, but he (Kamara) and Othello Banks are still at large.

The Police Charge Street further stated that the US$10,000, which is in one hundred dollar bills, was retrieved from him, noting that the money was used to defraud the economy of the Republic of Liberia.

During police investigation, Dennis willingly admitted to the crime and named his accomplices as Banks and Kamara, the charge sheet indicated.

No date has been set for his trial.
