ECC To Deploy ‘Long Term’ Observers At Voting Precincts
By Chiedi E. Nyenmoh
MONROVIA, January 10 (LINA) –The Elections Coordinating Committee (ECC) in Monrovia has developed a strategic plan to deploy long-term observers at the various polling precincts to be established across the country by the National Elections Commission (NEC).
Speaking on the UNMIL Radio “Coffee Break” Tuesday, EEC Coordinator Oscar Bloh said one observer will be assigned in each of the 73 districts with one supervisor per county, excluding Montserrado which will have two each.
According to Bloh, the observers will undergo in-depth training in order to develop the technique based on voter’s registration regulation.
He said they have planned to observe every aspect of the electoral circle to see the quality of the voter’s registration process and ensure that the voter registration regulation is understood.
He noted that one observer will be deployed at a particular precinct for a day and later moved to another the following day.
Bloh stated that the exercise will continue until at the end of the week during which time the observers will release their provisional findings to the NEC.
