MICAT Begins Annual Media Registration For 2017
By Robert Dixon

MONROVIA, January 9 (LINA) - The Communication Bureau at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) has announced the start of the annual regulatory registration permit process for 2017.

The Ministry in statement issued Monday under the signature of Ms. Agatha Thomson indicated that the process begins on Tuesday, January 10, and ends on March 10.

It is required each year that all Publishers of newspapers and magazines, managers of radio and television stations, printing and advertisement firms, as well as cable television and graphic arts entities operating in Liberia begin their annual regulatory
registration permit process in January.

According to the statement, regulatory registration permit of media entities is in keeping with the statutory provision that established the Bureau of Communication at the Ministry to regulate, monitor and enforce the Ministry’s functions through an enactment by the National Legislature.

The statement quotes the Bureau of Communication as urging all media and relevant entities to contact the Ministry to begin the process on Tuesday, January 10.

The statement warns that after the March 10, 2017 deadline, Media institutions failing to comply with this regulation will not attend public functions or receive advertisement supplement from government.

The statement disclosed that the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning will only pay vendors who have completed their registration process at the National  Bureau of Communication  at MICAT.
