Senator  Ballout Roots For Capacity Building

BUCHANAN, March 23 (LINA) - Maryland County Senior Senator John Ballout has said capacity building of citizens is key to Liberia's transformation drive.

He made the statement at programs marking the first annual report forthe Agenda for Transformation (AFT) held in Buchanan, Grand Bassa
County over the weekend.

The Maryland County lawmaker said if Liberia is to achieve its agenda for transformation, the Government should focus on enhancing the capacity of its citizens, noting that it will sustain the development being carried out by the Government.

Senator Ballout also said, Liberians will help move the economy of their country forward, once they are fully capacitated through vocational and other technical skills training programs.

He called on the Government to build technical and vocational institutions throughout the country, and to also allow Liberians access to loans to spur empowerment and enable them meet up with the wave of transformation currently taking place in the country.

The Maryland County lawmaker also called on the Chairman of the AFT, Finance Minister Amara Konneh, to grant Liberian engineering companies contracts under the AFT, so that some of the monies being spent by Government on projects can be retained in the country to boost economic revitalization.

He is also encouraging financial institutions in the country to aid Liberian engineering firms, to get collateral to support their bids for huge development projects being offered by the Government.
