Senegalese President's Envoy Delivers ‘Special Message’ To Pres. Sirleaf

MONROVIA, December 15 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has received a ‘special message’ from Senegalese President Macky Sall delivered by his special envoy Abdou Aziz to the Liberian leader.

According to an Executive Mansion release, President Sirleaf Wednesday welcomed the Special Envoy and spoke of Liberia’s long-standing experience with Senegal, including the deployment of Senegalese troops on peacekeeping mission in Liberia under the auspices of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the United Nations.

She commended her Senegalese counterpart, President Macky Sall, through his Special Envoy Aziz for the visit and asked him to convey to her brother and colleague best wishes.

The Liberian leader said Senegal can count on Liberia for support in whatever positive endeavour, adding: “Whatever Liberia can do to promote peace, tranquility and harmony in ECOWAS, especially for Senegal, we will do.”

President Sirleaf said discussions will be furthered in Abuja, Nigeria later this week at the upcoming ECOWAS Summit.

In remarks, envoy Aziz thanked President Sirleaf for the audience and said he was in Liberia to deliver a special message of friendship and solidarity from her brother and colleague President Macky Sall as well as seek Liberia’s continued support.

He said he was happy to be in Liberia and was particularly delighted about ongoing developments in the country.

Mr. Aziz has departed the country for Freetown, Sierra Leone.
