Health Ministry To Absorb Over 3,000 Workers On Payroll
By Catherine B. Nyenkan

MONROVIA, December 12 (LINA) - About 3,115 health workers and support staff nationwide are to be placed on the payroll of the Ministry of Health, a MOH annual report has said.

The report, which was released recently, indicated that the ministry is doing this in collaboration with the Civil Service Agency (CSA) and the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.

According to the report, 2,261 of the total number processed represent support staff, 720 clinical staff, which includes physician assistants, certified midwives, lab technicians, pharmacists and doctors, while 134 represent administrative staffs including procurement officers, administrators, accountants, senior clerk/registrars, auditors and office assistants.

The report stated that health workers’ payroll prioritization was developed to enable a rationalized absorption of health workers on the Government of Liberia payroll to meet critical needs.

The report also said the World Bank supported the operational cost and noted that this has been a high priority for the Ministry of Health in the course of the year.

The report also said the payroll percentage has progressed significantly in the past year from 58 percent to 68 percent, noting that almost all clinical cadets are on payroll.
