VP Boakai Commends PPAL; Meets IPPF Delegation

MONROVIA, November 10 (LINA) - Vice President Joseph N. Boakai has commended the Planned Parenthood Association of Liberia (PPAL) for its meaningful contributions to the sexual and reproductive health and rights program of the nation.

Vice President Boakai said with such program in place, responsible parents would be developed and there will be a minimum of unsafe abortions, sharing of best practices and well as enabling the youth stay in school.

According to a release from the office of the Vice President, he made the commendation Wednesday when a high-power delegation of the PPAL of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) Africa Region.

The IPPFAR is convening a three-day meeting in Monrovia from the November 8-10.

According to Mr. Emmanuel Obeng, Policy and Organization Learning Advisor at the Africa Regional Office of the IPPF in Nairobi, Kenya, the national associations are locally-owned but internationally connected.

Vice President Boakai thanked the IPPF for choosing Liberia for the meeting and pledged Government’s continuous commitment to the development of the sector.

Speaking earlier, PPAL Executive Director Madam Miatta Kiawu Cojolo hailed Vice President Boakai for his support to the Association over the years, the release from the Office of the Vice President said.
