Youth Engaged In Communal Farming
By Korboi Gbelewala, LINA Lofa County Correspondent

KOLAHUN, March 20 (LINA) -In support of government's development initiatives in Lofa County, youth in Lukasu Town, Kolahun District have embarked on the cultivation of a 75-acre communal farm.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency during an inspection tour of the farm on March 18, the Youth Chairman of Lukasu Town, Alexander Bongolee, said the youth had decided to get involved in farming to boost Government's food self-sufficiency initiative.

He said, the undertaking was also intended to prove that President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf was right when she heaped praises on citizens of Kolahun District, for the progress they are making in agriculture.

Bongolee also told LINA that proceeds from the 75-acre farm will go towards the construction of a youth center and the completion of a US$34,000 Town Hall project in Lukasu Town.

He added that when completed, the youth center will be used as venue for discussion of youth intellectual issues, matters affecting the district and the county, as well as meetings and other youth activities.

Meanwhile, Bongolee has commended the youth of Lukasu Town for their high level of cooperation in development activities in the town, and urged them to remain engaged in activities that will ensure for them a bright future.
