MONROVIA, November 2 (LINA) – The Liberia Institute of Public Administration (LIPA) is training in Transformational Leadership about 100 Civil Servants who are currently serving in leadership positions at their respective institutions.

The training is in furtherance of the Public Sector Modernization Project (PSMP) of the Government of Liberia.

The targeted group consists of employees of ministries and agencies which are part of the pilot phase of the project.

Participating entities include the Ministries of Health, Finance and Development Planning, Internal Affairs, Information, Foreign Affairs, Education, and Justice.

According to the mandate of the PSMP, LIPA is required to train about 500 public sector managers in five years out of which 25 percent must be female leaders.

The training which is taking place at a local hotel in Monrovia aims to establish a sustained foundation for effective leadership within the civil service.

It also seeks to transform public sector managers from dormant status quo to competent results-oriented leaders.

Speaking at the opening session of the training recently, LIPA Director General Oblayon Blayon Nyemah, described the trainees as engineers clothed with the authority of transforming the leadership situation of the public sector.
