Pres. Sirleaf Congratulates Lebanon On Successful Elections

MONROVIA, November 2 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a congratulatory message to Mr. Michel Aoun, President-elect of the Republic of Lebanon, on his choice by the Lebanese people as President of that country.

In her message, President Sirleaf, on behalf of Liberia, extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Government and People of Lebanon, for the successful election of Mr. Aoun as President of Lebanon.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the Liberian leader also applauded the people of Lebanon for the peaceful conduct of recent presidential election after more than 29 months of political stalemate in that country.

“As you assume the mantle of leadership of your great country, I entertain the hope that the relations between our two countries will continue to expand and flourish in our shared desire to sustain peace, economic development and security within the context of our historic bilateral relations,” the Liberian President declared.

President Sirleaf prayed that as President Aoun assumes the mantle of leadership of his country, the Almighty God will continue to endow him with abundant wisdom and strength, as he leads his people to greater prosperity.
