Bong County Police Display ‘Stolen Items’
By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, October 26 (LINA) - Police in Bong County have put on display property confiscated from suspected criminals in Gbarnga and its environs.

In recent weeks, police in the county have raided ghettos, entertainment centers and other places suspected of selling narcotic substances.

During the raids, several property believed to have been stolen from community residents were confiscated.

The police have exhibited these items at their headquarters in Gbarnga, and asked community members to prove ownership and take possession of the items which include generators, computers, air conditioners, and amplifiers, among others.

Bong County Police Commander Col. Fedrick Naipaye said the police will ensure that criminals are chased out of the city, adding that several criminals were arrested, but some were released because of congestion at the Gbarnga Central Prison.

However, Col. Naipaye stressed that despite being put on parole, the police are keeping tight surveillance on those criminals and will re-arrest them if the need arises.

The Bong County police chief has at the same time commended the people of Sergeant Kollie Town on the outskirts of Gbarnga for chasing suspected drug sellers and users out of their area without police involvement.

He said the citizens only notified the police about their action and conducted their activities in a non-violent manner.

Relative calm has returned to Gbarnga and its environs, especially at night, since the raids as criminals are not seen in some of their usual hideouts, including the Gbarnga Parking, Telecom Community and Far-east, among others.
