President, Speaker Visit Judiciary To Strengthen Coordination

MONROVIA, October 26 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has paid a courtesy call on the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court of Liberia.

According to a judicial release, the visit Tuesday was aimed at enhancing coordination between the three branches of government.

Discussions at the meeting centered on strengthening coordination that best serve the interest of the country and its people.

The release indicated that the Liberian leader’s visit to the judiciary is in keeping with a routine of her presence at the opening of each term of the Supreme Court.

The release, however, revealed that President Sirleaf was not present at the opening of the October Term of the court due to other pressing official engagements.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the House of Representatives has also paid an acquaintance visit to the Chief Justice and Associate Justices of the Supreme Court.

The House leadership was led by the newly-elected Speaker Emmanuel Nuquay.

In remarks, the Speaker said the visit to the Supreme Court was intended to foster greater cooperation and coordination between the legislature and the other branches of Government, specifically the Judicial Branch.

He was also not present at the opening of the high court on Monday, October 10.
