Official Says Communities Play Key Role In Stable Environment
By Calvin Brooks

MONROVIA, October 25 (LINA) -The Coordinator of the Security Sector Reform at the National Security Council Secretariat of the Ministry of State says communities play a major role in ensuring a stable environment.

According to Atty. Samuel F. Dakana, the role of communities is critical in sustaining peace and security, noting that it is in the communities that violence and crimes take place.

Atty. Dakana made the statement Monday at the start of a two-day consultation for the Institutionalization of the County Peace Committee (CPC) at the national level held in Monrovia.

He noted that Liberians believe that security agencies of government are solely responsible to maintain and sustain peace, noting that it is the collective responsibility of the citizenry, particularly the communities, to keep the peace and safety of their areas.

According to Atty. Dakana, the CPC and the County Security Council are coordinating and collaborating to ensure that peace and stability is maintained in the nation.

He stressed that community members should always ensure that stability and security prevail in the country.
