Culture Envoy Nudges Liberians To Promote Peace In 2017
By Calvin Brooks

MONROVIA, October 20 (LINA) - Liberia’s Culture Ambassador has challenged Liberians to promote peace in a bid to maintain security and stability during the 2017 general and presidential elections.

Ambassador Judee Endee observed that peace is crucial in fostering socio-economic and political development, stressing that every Liberian should play a major role in preserving and maintaining peace during and after the elections.

Ambassador Endee made the call recently when Liberia Crusaders for Peace in partnership with the Carter Center, Musons Group Inc., UNMIL, Ministry of Internal Affairs Peace Building Office, National Elections Commission, and other national partners held a stakeholders consultative forum in support of the 2016 National “kukatormon” Peace initiative held at the Monrovia City Hall.

She noted that the behavior and actions of individuals in society can either help to promote peace or create instability, adding that "the people should be mindful of what they do."

Endee said Liberians are tired of instability after elections, and urged political parties and politicians contesting the upcoming elections to prioritize the maintenance of peace.

Ambassador Endee emphasized that the National Elections Commission and government should ensure that free and fair elections are conducted to guarantee that the process is free of violence.
