Liberia Prepared For Ebola - Official
By Calvin Brooks

MONROVIA, October 20 (LINA) - A representative of the Partnership for Research on Ebola Virus in Liberia (PREVAIL) has assured that Liberia is prepared to tackle Ebola when it resurfaces in the country.

Dr. Jestina Doe-Anderson also stated that the Liberia-United States Joint Clinical Research Partnership is intended to develop a vaccine to contain Ebola.

Dr. Anderson gave the assurance Wednesday at a national stakeholders advocacy engagement forum held in Monrovia.

She explained that Liberia is making significant impact around the globe as a result of the clinical research that is being conducted in the country.

She maintained that the PREVAIL study is voluntary participation and that it has put Liberia in the position to adequately deal with the Ebola Virus.

Dr. Anderson reiterated that Ebola survivors should abstain from sex until they are thoroughly examined to know the medical status of their semen.

The forum was organized by the Social Mobilization, Community Engagement, Outreach and Awareness in support of the Ebola Natural History Study on close contacts and sexual partners of Ebola survivors.
