By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, October 12 (LINA) - The Philadelphia Church in Gbarnga, Bong County has won the first in the series of Dr. Mogana S. Flomo, Jr. Entertainment Award.

The Grace Baptist and First Baptist churches were second and third place winners of the concert.

The prizes are L$10,000, L$6,000 and L$4,000 for the first, second and third place winners respectively.

Participating churches were the Philadelphia, Military Vision, Grace Baptist, Holy Spirit of the Cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Gbarnga and First Baptist.

The concert was organized by the Federation of Liberian Youth (FLY) Bong County Secretariat.

FLY acting Program Coordinator Jeremiah Wilson said the concert was named in honor of Dr. Flomo for his support to the gospel music industry and the education of youth in the county.

Wilson said Dr. Flomo’s work continues to inspire the youth community, especially at the time when young people were striving to prepare themselves to support the nation’s development agenda.

Margibi County Senator Oscar Cooper, who graced the occasion, thanked the FLY Bong County Secretariat for organizing the concert and donated L$50,000 as his personal contribution to the program.

Senator Cooper said music heals depression and other forms of social illnesses and as such it was worthy to laud FLY for organizing the competition.
