PUL Prexy To Speak On Liberian Media In Washington
MONROVIA, October 12 (LINA) - Press Union of Liberia (PUL) president Abdullai Kamara will Wednesday address a special forum on the state of Liberia’s media at the Center for Media Assistance (CIMA) in Washington, D.C., the USA.
The forum, jointly organized by CIMA, Internews and the National Endowment for Democracy, and to be attended by various media development, democracy and donor groups, is geared towards drawing international attention to the situation of media in Liberia, ahead of the democratic transition in the country.
Kamara, currently on a multiple media development, PUL-enhancement visit, will highlight the challenges in the face of the Liberian media, according to a PUL release issued in Monrovia.
He is a Special International Fellow of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) and the Commission on the Presidential Debate to participate in a seminar aligned with the October 19 Debate between American presidential candidates, Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton, at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas.
Participation in this event is part of preparation by the Press Union to organize candidates’ debates in time for the 2017 general and presidential debates in Liberia.
The PUL prexy will later participate in the annual convention of the Association of Liberian Journalists in the Americas (ALJA) in Philadelphia, where he will seek to gain the solidarity of colleagues in the Diaspora to work for a stronger and more independent media environment in Liberia.
