Justice Minister Calls For Review Of Judicial Laws
By Ballah M. Kollie

MONROVIA, October 10 (LINA) – Justice Minister Frederick Cherue is calling for a review of laws relating to trial with the aim of bringing them to current realities, circumstances and conditions.

He also wants laws to be enacted to harmonize the assignment of judges in all courts across the country to enhance the rotational procedures affecting Circuit and Magisterial Courts.

Justice Minister Cherue made the call in response to a concern expressed by Chief Justice Francis Korkpor during the opening the Supreme Court’s October Term at the Temple of Justice Monday.

“We believe that when these adjustments are made, they will help to address the overcrowding of court dockets and other challenges in our court system,” Cherue pointed out.

According to him, the delivery of justice and protection of life and property cannot be fully achieved without effective collaboration, cooperation and coordination between the Ministry of Justice and the Judiciary.

He then pledged the ministry’s fullest support in enhancing the cordial and professional working relationship between the Executive and Judiciary branches of government.

He thanked the United Nations Mission in Liberia for helping to keep the security of the state as well as instituting several reforms that have helped to keep the peace the country continues to enjoy.
