Police In Bong Charge Man, 49, With Armed Robbery
By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, October 6 (LINA) - Police in Gbarnga, Bong County have sent to the Gbarnga Magisterial Court a 49-year-old man, Augustine Suah, on charges of armed robbery and illegal possession of firearm.

Suah was arrested early Monday while attempting to rob Miss Lorweimon Dokie, an employee of the Carter Center in the Deanville Community along the Gbarnga-Phebe Highway.

He was nabbed with a single barrel pistol with the help of some community residents following a tussle with Miss Dokie after he entered her house.

According to the Police charge sheet, Suah admitted committing the crime during preliminary investigation and pleaded for forgiveness.

The alleged armed robber said he was in Gbarnga for five days before the incident on Monday.

He told journalists upon his arrest that he is a driver but has since lost his job and could no longer live up to his family responsibility.

A Police investigative report also indicates that Suah was among several criminals recently raided by the Liberia National Police in Monrovia.

He was remanded Wednesday at the Gbarnga Central Prison awaiting prosecution.
