Environment NGO Launches Youth Training In Bong
By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, October 5 (LINA) - The Center for Environmental and Public Health Research (CEPRES) in collaboration with its partner universities has formally launched the "T. Alexander Brown Environmental Youth Volunteer” program in Gbarnga, Bong County.

CEPRES Executive Director Mogana Flomo told the Liberia News Agency in Gbarnga Wednesday that the launch is part of a six-week training for over 450 young Liberians from across the country on the impact of climate change, environmental safety, waste management and basic leadership skills, among others.

Dr. Flomo said the program was named in memory of a youth volunteer, T. Alexander Brown, who died in August this year.

Dr. Flomo explained that the late Brown was a staunch volunteer who worked beyond his call of duty for the growth of CEPRES and the development of young people in the country.

The CEPRES official added that his organization deemed it necessary to train more young Liberians who can fill the vacuum created by Brown’s death.

He cautioned participants of the six-week training to apply time and vigor into the program to gain knowledge that will help develop their communities.
