Judge Kontoe Pledges Court's Support To Gbarnga City

By Philip T. Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, October 3 (LINA) - The Resident Circuit Judge of Bong County, Boimah Kontoe, says the judiciary remains committed to supporting the Gbarnga City Corporation.

Judge Kontoe said the Court will closely work with the City Corporation in prosecuting would-be violators of city ordinances.

The Ninth Judicial Circuit Judge made the pledge at the weekend when he served as keynote speaker at the induction of Gbarnga City Mayor Josiah Marvin Cole.

Judge Kontoe encouraged the corporation to take advantage of the court system in ensuring strict compliance with the development goal of the City of Gbarnga.

He then admonished citizens of Bong County to galvanize the needed resources to support the Gbarnga City Corporation in fostering the development of the city.

In his induction statement, Cole called for the collective efforts of residents of Gbarnga in ensuring the development of the city.

He noted that Gbarnga being one of the oldest cities in Liberia needs to rise above its current condition, if it is to attract investors.

Cole said as part of his agenda to transform the city, he will shortly embark on a massive “citizens consultative forum” to ensure that the city ordinances are fully implemented.

He noted that all garages, make-shift structures, containers and illegal occupants of public land in the city will be relocated during his first one hundred days in office.

The Gbarnga city mayor also vowed to further strengthen the city's cooperative partnership with the Drug Enforcement Agency, Liberia National Police and other security agencies to tackle the proliferation of ghettoes in the city.
