LNP Generates US$14k, L$821k From Traffic Tickets In 8 Months
By Robert Dixon

MONROVIA, September 27 (LINA) - The Liberia National Police (LNP) has disclosed that it generated US$14,208 and L$821,125 from January to August 2016 from the issuance of tickets to traffic violators

LNP Deputy Communication Director, Chief Superintendent Lewis Norman, made the disclosure Tuesday in an interview with the Liberia News Agency at his office on Capitol Hill.

He explained that the tickets were issued drivers and other road users to pay fines into government revenue for violating the traffic laws of Liberia, noting that this is intended to serve as a deterrent to individuals who violate traffic laws.

According to Norman, the LNP issued 2,666 tickets to traffic violators during the period under review, noting that out of that number, 894 were paid for, while 34 were challenged and 9 violators were warned, with 1629 tickets outstanding.

Meanwhile, Chief Superintendent Norman is cautioning drivers and other road users to respect traffic laws because the LNP will not hesitate to issue tickets to any traffic violators, no matter their status in society.
