UNDP Committed To Assisting Procurement Specialists - Official
By Calvin Brooks

MONROVIA, September 22 (LINA) - An official of the U.N. Development Programme (UNDP) has reaffirmed the UN agency's commitment to providing support for procurement specialists in Liberia.

Rose Muchiri observed that procurement is a unique profession and as such procurement officers should be trained to understand the dynamics of the profession to be capacitated to perform their duties.

Muchiri made the statement recently at the start of a four-day Certified International Procurement (CIP) training for government ministries and agencies held at the Liberia Chamber of Commerce on Capitol Hill.

She stressed that participants should take the training seriously to build their capacities in the profession, assuring them that an international certificate will be awarded to each participant which is accepted globally.

Meanwhile, the Director for Communication at the Public Procurement and Concessions Commission (PPCC), Nathan B. Bengu has said it is critical for procurement officers to be aware of the necessary procedures of the profession.

Bengu noted that the CIP training, which is being sponsored by UNDP, is intended to buttress government’s efforts to capacitate and train professional procurement practitioners in the country.
