Sen. Taylor Calls For Teaching Of Ethics In Schools
By Ballah  M. Kollie

MONROVIA, September 21 (LINA) – Bong County Senator Jewel Taylor has called for the teaching of character building and ethics in Liberian schools.

She observed that in most parts of Liberia today, children no longer show respect to the elderly due to lack of the teaching of character building and etiquette in schools across the country.

Taylor made the call at the dedication of a computer facility valued at over US$35,000 at the Kerkula Giddings High School in Sanoyea, lower Bong County on Monday.

The facility is being operated by the Innovative Education Liberia (IEL) of the Samuel Morris Scholar Program.

Samuel Morris was a Liberian whose achievements at the Taylor University in the United States of America in the 1860s are being memorialized by the launch of a scholar program in his honor.

The program through a special computerized program teaches Mathematics and Science.

Taylor, the Liberian Senate Chairperson on Education, lauded the teaching of character building by the Samuel Morris Scholar Program, adding, “In most places of learning, character building is not taught and unless you have character, God will not open doors for you.”

Meanwhile, the Giddings family in Sanoyea, Bong County has donated a 5 kva generator to the Kerkula Giddings High School.

The generator will be used to provide electricity in support of the specialized computer program.
