NGO Registers 125 Students In Two Counties
By Chiedi E. Nyenmoh

MONROVIA, September 20 (LINA) –Smile Liberia (SL), a non-governmental organization in Monrovia, has registered about 125 school-age children in Grand Bassa and Montserrado counties for the 2016/2017 academic year.

The organization has also dispatched an assessment team to the other 13 counties to assess the educational needs of school-going children in those areas.

Making the disclosure on the UNMIL radio morning show “Coffee Break” Tuesday, the Executive Director of Smile Liberia, Prince Parker, said this is part of the “Send Them To School” program SL launched in May to help 200 students get quality education this academic year.

He added that the program is also part of the five-year project to provide humanitarian and educational aid to the less fortunate in Liberia’s poor rural communities.

He noted that the team will be monitoring the performance of the students, adding that they have asked school administrations to provide security for the children.

Meanwhile, Parker has said SL, with the help of an American organization, is providing 100 sets of uniforms and 250 book bags for the children, noting that those items are expected to be delivered by the end of October.
