Police Get New Inspector General, Deputy
MONROVIA, September 17 (LINA) - President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has appointed Col. Gregory Coleman as Inspector General of the Liberia National Police (LNP) and Col. Abraham K. Kromah as Deputy Inspector General for Operations.
The new appointments at the LNP are consistent with the New Police Act recently enacted by the National Legislature, according to an Executive Mansion release.
The Liberian leader announced the appointments Friday in a special statement during a live broadcast from her office in Monrovia.
She thanked out-going Inspector General Chris Massaquoi for his service to Liberia over the past years and described him as a loyal and dedicated public servant whose expertise and contributions will still be required.
President Sirleaf also indicated that former Inspector General Massaquoi will be considered in a new role subsequently.
She challenged the in-coming appointees to always demonstrate professionalism, loyalty to country and dedication to duty as they perform their responsibilities at the LNP.
Also speaking, out-going Inspector General Massaquoi thanked President Sirleaf for affording him the opportunity to serve in many capacities and pledged his continuous loyalty and support to her administration.
