Lofa Supt. Harps On Upholding Cultural Heritage
By Wilfred Gortor

MONROVIA, September 14 (LINA) - Lofa County Superintendent George S. Dunor has called on Liberians to uphold and maintain their cultural heritage and practices as the nation strives to regain its pre-war status.

Dunor observed that Liberia is gifted in every sector, ranging from human resource, economy, agriculture and other natural resources, but noted that these gifts will only be useful to the nation if Liberians revert to their cultural roots.

Speaking recently at the induction of officials of the Lofa University Students Association at the United Methodist University in Monrovia, Dunor noted that the need for Liberians to obey the rules and cultural norms of their ancestors is imperative, stressing that it will lead to the greatness of the nation and its people.

"My fellow citizens, we want to move from where we are to greater places, but let us always remember where we come from so that our journey will bring pride and dignity to our origin," he said.

Dunor emphasized that life will continue to be a mere illusion if people do not remember and appreciate where they come from, noting, "One must first know where he comes from before success avails itself in his life."

He wants Liberians to take advantage of their wealth of cultural practices as well as the country’s abundant natural resources by using them for the comfort and good of the nation.
