MPW Begins Road Maintenance Training In Bong
By Philip T.Singbah, LINA Bong County Correspondent

GBARNGA, September 12  ( LINA) - The Feeder Roads Alternative and Maintenance Program (FRAMP) at the Ministry of Public Works has started its training and capacity-building program in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The program is aimed at developing and operating road maintenance systems through county-level systems under government technical and managerial oversight and also provides construction oversight for 450 kilometres of farm-to-market roads.

The program also looks at the pilot road maintenance activities on selected roads and constructs alternative low volume road seals on 50 kilometres of selected roads in targeted counties.

The official launch is followed by an ongoing week-long training on feeder roads maintenance with participants drawn from Bong, Nimba, Grand Bassa and Lofa counties.

Speaking to the Liberia News Agency following the launch of the training program, Public Works Minister Gyude Moore said the initiative is in furtherance  of government efforts to sustain various road maintenance initiatives across the country.

According to Moore, the government has constructed several feeder roads around the country but effective maintenance remains a major challenge, adding that the ongoing program will adequately help to maintain the country's roads.

He praised the Feeder Road Alternative and Maintenance Program and partners for the initiative and pledged government’s commitment to the implementation of the program.
